- An employer can get into trouble if they do not consider you for a job because of your sex, race, disability, religion or belief or sexual orientation.
- Your rights as employee at a firm increase the longer you work there.
- Workers over 16 years old are entitled to a minimum of four weeks' paid holiday a year.
- Rules introduced in October 2004 mean that everybody is entitled to a minimum wage.
- If you are unsure of your rights, talk to your employer or contact your local Citizens Advice Bureau.
